Congratulations to Danielle Rutkowski, the winner of this giveaway!!

I’m so excited to announce this giveaway! eartheasy has provided Primitive Mommy with a Lifestraw to give away to one lucky reader. If you haven’t heard of Lifestraw, it is one of the coolest inventions to come across my radar for a long time. Why is it so important? This simple invention is providing clean water to those less fortunate who live where the water supply isn’t clean. An estimated 884 million people in  the world still use unimproved  sources of drinking water. This lack  of access to safe drinking water contributes to diarrheal diseases worldwide, particularly affecting the young, the  immunocompromised and the poor. Almost one in five child deaths – about  1.5 million each year – is due to diarrhea. According to UNICEF and WHO, diarrhea kills more young  children than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. Approximately  43% of the global population is deprived of  household, safe piped water.

Lifestraw’s can also benefit those fortunate enough to have clean water because it is ideal for camping or even carrying in a purse or car for emergencies. We love ours! I keep mine in my car for emergencies and can’t wait to try it while hiking!

From eartheasy’s website:

“The LifeStraw personal water filter, the “Best Invention of the Year” (Time magazine, 2005), enables users to drink water safely from contaminated water sources. LifeStraw is ideal for homeowners during emergencies such as local flooding which can contaminate drinking water supplies. LifeStraw is also ideal for campers and hikers who may be drinking from rivers or lakes and are unsure of the water safety. Because LifeStraw is lightweight and compact, it is also great for travelers who do not want to rely on the quality of local water.

I would like a Lifestraw because we have already gone through two diasters in the past year first a major flood and second a tornado. We were without power and water for two weeks each time, and both times had to bug out on foot. This would be perfect for our bug out back.

  2. Comment by Melanie:

I’d like to use a life straw for camping. Thanks!!!

  3. Comment by Melinda:

Would love to add this to our hiking backpack! We’re always out and about with the little ones and then we could drink that way instead of packing water with us.

  4. Comment by Valarie:

I would love to win one of these because I enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors a lot. Being able to quickly and safely drink fresh water would be lovely.

  5. Comment by Emilee:

This is really cool. I’d love to have one for hiking or if we go on long horseback rides as well as for our survival/prepping gear! I’d love to try one out.

  6. Comment by millie:

    Would love to have this!

  7. Comment by Zhanna:

Life straw would be a good item to have for anyone, like myself, who lives in the rural parts of the wild country with beautiful waters and rivers which are continuously being contaminated by fracking and industrialization. Consciousness arises first, then anger and the fire within to do your part in fighting what you believe in. Next step is self-preservation.

  8. Comment by Erin:

What an amazing concept. I would use it when traveling anywhere. Great safety net!

  9. Comment by Dusti Power:

We have been eyeing these- we are an adventuring family (me, hubby, and 3 kids) so something like this would be awesome to have!!

I would love to have one of these for hiking! There are many springs around my commmunity that would be great to drink from after a little filtration!

  13. Comment by Melissa S.:

This would be such an great score! What an awesome product. I’m always wondering what the next great thing will be and I think I’ve found it. Thank you Primitive Mommy for bringing this giveaway to us and thank you even more Eartheasy for offering this giveaway! I would totally love to win this because when I’m out and about I don’t keep as hydrated as I should. At home I use a Berkey system and feel totally trust worthy but when I’m out I’m always thinking of the what-ifs, this would stop all that!

  14. Comment by Kristin:

Wow this would be so awesome to take on hikes and on camping trips. I don’t have a filter yet, and this is so compact….I love it!

  15. Comment by Dezirae Klaizner:

I would LOVE to win this for my family. We do a lot of hiking and backpackig trips, and using iodine tablets is time consuming and our large filtration system is too big to bring when we backpack.

Absolutely love your posts- I follow you through Facebook. So thanks for all the great tips!!!

  16. Comment by Lauren:

This would be the greatest addition to my emergency bag! Fingers crossed!:-)

  17. Comment by Carly Belina:

I would really love to have one in a family emergency kit in our house and would definitely take it when traveling. Thanks for the chance to win one!

  18. Comment by Delilah:

Oooooh I neeed one!!! I would bring this thing EVERYwhere with me. I drink almost nothing but water. Bottled water almost always tastes like plastic to me, so I either filter water from the tap, or travel to a local spring and bottle it myself in gallon glass jugs. BUT I also do a lot of camping. And my family is planning a trip to our remote property where we will build our off grid home. The well there is not drinkable. So many uses… :-)

  19. Comment by Kayleigh S.:

This would be handy for emergencies! I’ve been trying to be more prepared if something happened, and clean water is a must!

  20. Comment by Jessica:

I am a Mama of two boys and have a wonderful husband, we love things all out doors. And are a water drinking family! We would love to have this amazing invention, and know with certainty our water we are drinking is clean and purified!

  22. Comment by Rachel F:

This is awesome! We go camping all the time and this would be so much more eco-friendly than bringing a bunch of water jugs and is much more compact than a berkey filter.

  23. Comment by jada berg:

I would love to use this for homesteading and camping. My family spends lots of time outside in the wilderness and places far from running water, and this would be really helpful!

  24. Comment by Jeri Thurber:

I could use one of these for when we are out and about with our little one! Looks great for camping!

  25. Comment by Bethany McKinnon:

This would be awesome, my husband and I are very into hiking. This year we pulled out the summer hiking box and the water filter was broken! This one seems even better and we would be grateful to have!

  26. Comment by Nichole:

What an awesome opportunity! We have been wanting a lifestaw for our family of seven, since we heard about them! We are about to buy land to begin our homestead and one of these would be an amazing blessing!

  27. Comment by Kayla:

I would love to win this because one if my biggest fears about distaste striking is how to have enough clean water stored for my large family! This would take a lot if stress off!
