I posted a picture on Facebook earlier of some cloth wipes that I made and I thought I would do a quick step by step on how to make your own. I used to buy cloth wipes years ago when I had my first baby. Then I would look at them and study how simple it would be to make my own and one day I decided to just do it! All of my children use cloth. They are pampered and we are wasting less toilet paper this way.

First you need to select your fabric. You need a thin terry cloth and any pretty quilters fabric you like for the non wiping side. Some people like flannel and terry or other fabrics. This is my favorite combo.

Place your fabric back to back and cut to the size wipe you want. Mine are about 7″ x 6″

This is the stitch (down the left side) that I use on my sewing machine when I have made them with it. Just pick a strong stitch and then trim the edges after sewing.

For this batch I serged them.

One down, more to go…

I wash them with Charlies Soap. Sometimes I add a little tea tree oil or a few drops of Dr Bronner’s Peppermint Liquid Castile Soap. I use Charlies for all of my laundry. I’ve always had sensitive skin and can’t use regular detergent, especially powders but Charlies doesn’t bug me.

There you have it! Two dozen wipes! Easy, Peasy, Homeade Wipes!!
